Making It Easy to Volunteer
Many church members begin by passively attending weekly services and not much more. WeGather enables members of all levels of involvement to scan opportunities for involvement and to step forward and sign up the moment the time is right for them. The Site Admin keeps the volunteer opportunities up to date, and members respond publicly if they will attend. This public response actually encourages participation because when someone undecided sees that there is a good group attending, that person is very likely to commit as well.
Weekly Responsibilities
All churches have a variety of weekly responsibilities that are shared by a small group of volunteers, such as ushers and greeters on Sunday, readers at the services, counting the donations, and so forth. WeGather provides a place for people to sign up and ask for a replacement in case of a cancellation. This way there is no duplication of work, everyone knows who is showing up on Sunday and to do what, and it is easy to find a substitute for any cancellations in advance.
